Análisis de la formación en investigación de estudiantes de pregrado de ingeniería industrial

Abstract

In this study, research training provided to students in the last semesters of an industrial engineering degree is analyzed as a basis for a proposal of continuous improvement actions. A literature review of theoretical concepts is conducted within the framework of a quantitative, transversal, and non-experimental methodology. A questionnaire is applied to gather data and perform statistical analyses. The results show that, in general terms, research training is satisfactory. The main strengths revealed are enjoyment of engaging into science and technology discussions while acknowledging the need of planning, resilience, and dedication to conduct research. The main weakness identified is students’ poor understanding of previous research and knowledge about theoretical-methodological approaches. It is concluded that there is a strong relationship between participation in research groups and research training.
