Intracranial aneurysms (IA) occur in 3-6% of the population. The incidence of aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) is 10-15 per 100,000 people per year. Aneurysmal SAH can cause one third of patients to die. Among the survivors, half will return to normal life, and the rest will need support to continue their normal daily activities. Because of the damage caused by SAH, researches have been committed to clarify the pathogenesis of IA, with the aim of increasing the understanding of the disease process. Endovascular coil embolization and flow diversions have become the standard of treatment for these lesions in the majority of cases in comparison to surgical clipping.
