Abstract

Many notable disasters are linked to organizations. Recent examples include a space shuttle explosion (NASA), ship loss (Costa Cruises), building collapse (Sohel Rana, and by implication Loblaws, Walmart, Benetton, and others), and train derailment (MMA Railway). These disasters, with drastic implications for human life and the environment, manifested organizational crises - existential threats to the organizations involved (Seeger, Sellnow, & Ulmer, 1998).
