Abstract

Screening cocktails of candidate genes for induction of pluripotency and self-renewal in nonstem cells has identified a surprising new embryonic stem cell regulator, the myc proto-oncogene. Here the possible mechanisms by which myc controls self-renewal and pluripotency are discussed. © 2008 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
