Abstract

The bilateral cochlear implant has increased in recent years in due to the search for auditory enhancements. There are many advantages to the users of the bilateral cochlear implant, which may include the location of the auditory sign, de-creasing the head shadow effect for the contralateral ear and binaural summation of the hearing. In children it is also discussed the issue of auditory deprivation. The aim of this review was to present a reflection on issues related to the bilateral cochlear implant, allowing the reader to do a search and strengthen scientifically with this issue, giving theo-retical foundation to better guide and advise their patients.
