Abstract

Galton founded many concepts in statistics, among them correlation, quartile, and percentile. Here Stephen Senn examines one of Galton's most important statistical legacies - one that is at once so trivial that it is blindingly obvious, and so deep that many scientists spend their whole career being fooled by it. © 2011 The Royal Statistical Society.
