In UI Greenmetric's ranking in 2019, UPNVY was ranked 38 out of 72 universities in Indonesia with a waste management score of 250 out of a total score of 1800. A low score achievement indicates that UPNVY has not met the criteria for sustainable waste management. Therefore, this study aims to find out the existing conditions of solid waste management (SWM) in UPNVY on the regulatory aspects and technical aspects of waste handling operations. This research is qualitative. Primary data collection techniques as performed by the method of observation, deep interviews, and documentation. In-depth interviews were conducted with 12 interviewees related to SWM at UPNVY. Based on the research results, the institutional waste comes from two sources, namely green open spaces and buildings. UPNVY already has a policy in the form of Number 11 of 2017 concerning the Management and Development of UPNVY as a Sustainable Green Campus. However, this regulation cannot be implemented optimally because there are no technical policies related to waste reduction and handling. In the technical aspect of waste handling operations, UPNVY still adheres to the collect-transport-waste system. There is no sorting in the trash bins. The waste collection system and waste transportation are still in mixed conditions. Waste processing and utilization exist but have not been carried out systematically and structurally. Therefore, UPNVY needs to issue policies and improve sustainable waste management facilities to create a sustainable green campus.
