Peran UMKM Ekowisata di Djawatan Banyuwangi melalui Pendekatan SWOT

Abstract

Tourism has become a primary focus for many countries to boost national economies. Law Number 10 of 2009 concerning Tourism emphasizes that this sector has significant potential for development to stimulate economic growth. In Banyuwangi, the local government, particularly the Department of Culture and Tourism, has taken concrete steps in line with Regional Regulation Number 13 of 2012 regarding the Master Plan for Tourism Development. One of the efforts is organizing tourism-themed events to attract visitors. UMKM Wisata Djawatan, established in 2018, has grown into a significant tourist destination supporting the local economy. Although waste management facilities are in place, challenges in waste collection and disposal remain a primary concern. A study by Airlangga University revealed that the existing waste management system is not fully effective, often resulting in littering or burning of waste. This issue becomes more pressing with the increasing number of visitors. Therefore, the comprehensive implementation of the Cleanliness, Health, Safety, and Environmental Sustainability (CHSE) program is crucial. This program aims to enhance cleanliness and sustainability standards in managing tourist destinations. Effective collaboration between the government, community, and private sector is needed to support the successful implementation of CHSE, thereby improving the quality and competitiveness of UMKM Wisata Djawatan as a sustainable and attractive tourist destination.
