On pragmemes again. Dealing with death

Abstract

In this paper I deal with societal considerations in connection with linguistic interaction in mourning events. I expatiate on the pragmeme of accommodation -linguistic interaction being subordinated to providing solace to the families of the deceased. I argue that a social intentionality is involved in such ritual interaction.
