The physical-chemical treatment of wastewater from a local industry of benefit of clays by means of jar test for the removal of total suspended solids (TSS) and turbidity has been studied and analyzed. Also, the characterization of the raw material and the residual sludge used in the benefit process was done. The coagulants used were aluminum sulfate and an anionic polymer (A-100). Two pH levels (6 and 9) and two doses of coagulant (20 mg/L and 100 mg/L) were evaluated. The results showed that with a low coagulant concentration it is possible to obtain a high removal, close to 100%, of TSS and turbidity. The anionic polymer showed to be highly effective at concentration of 20 mg/L and pH=6. According to the results, several applications, where the sludge can be reused, were proposed.
