Abstract

An asymmetric synthesis of the bromophycolide D ring system has been achieved in seven steps from a known geranylgeranylated benzoate, via bromonium-promoted transannular cyclization of a macrocyclic intermediate.(Figure Presented) © 2011 American Chemical Society.
