Abstract

Microchip, a physiological organ biomimetic system built on a microfluidic chip, is now one of the most promising technologies in the 21st century. Combined with biological science, biomaterial technology and medical engineering, the microenvironment of the microchips can mimic the mechanical stress and tissue fluid flow. This means that the microchips possess some characteristics of human tissues or organs, so it can become the best material for pathological study of some certain disease and drug test for the cure in vitro. As a result, many vivo experiments can be avoided, and the relative cost is reduced. The present paper first introduces several well-developed techniques in medical research, and makes comparisons with microchips. The structure and mechanism of microchips are further discussed. Finally, this paper will focus on the application of microchips in the various disease's treatment, protein detection, drug discovery and delivery, and some others medical problem.
