Abstract
Cryogen-free superconducting magnets are becoming popular due to their simple operation, compared with the conventional liquid helium cooled magnets. Japan Superconductor Technology Inc. has manufactured more than a hundred cryogen-free superconducting magnets based on technologies developed by the R&D division of Kobe Steel. The company has the highest worldwide market share. This report describes the basic features of cryogen-free magnets, as well as related recent and future developments.
