Recent technological innovations have made Global Positioning System (GPS) a convenient and popular method to quantify movement patterns and physical demands in sport. The aim of this study was to characterize the variation of the covered distance during official matches of a District Championship U-15. 30 Players were fitted with a shoulder harness containing a GPS unit (SPI Elite System)R. GPS data were downloaded after games and the following measures extracted: total distance and distance in various speed zones. The results of the study show that the average distance covered over the 70 minutes of the match was 8234.8 m. The results were able to discriminate and characterized parameters performance of young soccer players.
