Abstract

A new steel painting system that replaces hand scraping, unprotected spray painting and heavy handling of steel beams is highlighted. The system, which uses conveyors, a blast booth and an enclosed spray painting tunnel to perform these tasks, has also reduced paint consumption by 50% of what it had been previously. Operation of this automatic handling, cleaning and painting system is briefly described.
