DRUG CONSUMPTION AND INTERPERSONAL DIFFICULTIES IN UNIVERSITY STUDENTS

Abstract

The objective of this research was to describe the use of licit and illicit drugs, as well as interpersonal difficulties in university freshmen. A descriptive and correlational study was conducted, considering a sample of 201 participants from the Division of Biological Sciences and Health, Central Regional Unit. Sampling was random and stratified. As measuring instruments, the Questionnaires used were Drug Abuse, Fagerstrom Test for Nicotine Dependence, Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT) and the Assessment Interpersonal Difficulties in Adolescents (CEDIA). The results showed that the predominant age was 18-20 years old with an 88.6% with a mean of 19.57 years. Female gender predominated with 73.6%. It found that 55.2% of students smoked once in their life. Regarding alcohol consumption 51.74% is of the harmful type.
