Abstract

The purpose of this research was to engage with transgender, Two-Spirit, and nonbinary youth in Canada to address gender health-related knowledge gaps through development of health information resources and an agenda for future research. Participatory action research methodology focused on empowering youth as research collaborators and creating positive social change through development of openly accessible resources. Opportunities for participation included a Youth Advisory Team, focus groups, and an online survey. Twelve health information needs were identified via conventional content analysis: accessing care; talking with providers; rights, privacy and consent; safety; family, partner and peer support; school, workplace and community support; mental health and spiritual support; social transition support; puberty blockers; hormone therapy; gender-affirming surgeries; and sexual & reproductive health.
