Abstract

Three species of Scutellinia, S. decipiens, S. kerguelensis and S. legaliae, are reported as new to the British Isles. Description of these species and of two previously reported as new British records, S. macrospora and S. mirabilis, are provided based on British material. The typification of S. trechispora and of S. umbrorum is discussed and the nomenclature and identification of some other British species of Scutellinia are also considered. Scutellinia hirta is an established name and should not be substituted by S. cejpii. Scutellinia crinira is determined to be a synonym of S. scutellata based on examination of neotype material of both names and of British collections. A key to recognized British species of Scutellinia is also provided.
