Abstract

The difference in resilience levels of people with physical disabilities was investigated by comparing highperformance and non-athlete athletes. A convenience sampling was conducted with the participation of 20 people with physical disabilities, 10 high-performance athletes from Boyacá, and 10 non-athletes; groups with 6 men and 4 women, aged between 19 and 25 years. The study had a quantitative, cross-sectional, comparative, and nonexperimental design, using the Resilience Scale of Wagnild and Young (1993), validated and standardized by Gómez (2019). The results show a higher mean difference for the group of performance athletes compared to nonathletes; however, this difference was not statistically significant (t (18) = 1.38; p = .092), concluding that sport High performance is one of many factors that promote resilience in people with physical disabilities.
