Abstract

The Rissoellidae is tentatively included in the Heterogastropoda. The 14 Australian species and subspecies of Rissoella, 11 of which are new [R. atrimacula, R. fallax, R. globosa, R. vitrea, R. confusa, R. confusa confusa, R. confusa robertsoni, R. confusa umbilicata, R. imperforata, R. colleenae, R. colleenae colleenae, R. colleenae pacifica, R. fretterae, R. micra, R. secunda and R. wilfredi], are separated into 4 subgenera. Their known distributions, radulae and opercula, and in some cases the external features of the animal, are described. A key to the Australian species is given.
