Abstract

Deep eutectic solvents, DESs, are the mixture of Lewis and Brønsted acids and bases which significantly reduce the freezing point compared with those of the components. Many DESs have relatively high conductivities and therefore can be used for electrochemical applications. This review highlights some of the recent advances made in electrodeposition and metal recycling as well as the effects of making them hydrophobic or mixing them with water.
