Heavy Metal Accumulation Diseases

Abstract

A subgroup of heavy metals including arsenic, bismuth, cadmium, copper, iron, lead, manganese, mercury, thallium, and zinc is associated with neurological impairment that includes an array of movement disorders. Frequently the toxicities are attributed to abnormal environmental exposures or abnormal accumulations of heavy metals in the body. Each of these metals has specific presentations, progression, and treatment as discussed in the chapter.
