Abstract

After elective inguinal herniorrhaphy, 35 patients were given either Entonox or intramuscular morphine as required for postoperative pain. Entonox was associated with a mean 9% increase in functional residual capacity (FRC) after surgery whereas the morphine group showed a mean decrease of 15%. © 1973 John Sherratt and Son Ltd.
