Abstract
In this work, MoS2 has been synthesized using a simple hydrothermal approach. The electrochemical analysis of the as-synthesized sample was performed in both symmetric and asymmetric cell configurations. In symmetric cell configuration, MoS2 manifested a specific capacitance (Cs) of 161.28 F g-1 at 5 mV s-1 over an operating voltage of 1V. An energy density (Ed) of 9.67 Wh Kg-1 is achieved at a power density (Pd) of 1 kW Kg-1. Further, the asymmetric cell configuration of MoS2 with activated carbon (AC) delivered a remarkable Ed of 40.73 Wh Kg-1 at a Pd of 2 kW Kg-1 over an operating voltage of 2V. The above results show the superiority of MoS2 electrodes for asymmetric supercapacitors over symmetric supercapacitor.
