Abstract

The need to introduce issues of sustainability into the interior design curriculum has become critically important. So the purpose of this study was to investigate the current status of teaching sustainability in curricula of interior design programs in Egypt universities; assess the level of awareness and training background on sustainability and determine the obstacles to incorporating sustainability into the programs. Interior design lecturers and professors were invited to participate in a survey on their university's interior architecture curricula. The study shows that all interior design programs currently do not teach sustainability within their curricula, and there are some obstacles to teaching sustainability.
