Abstract

The implementation of ultra-dense heterogeneous networks (HetNets) has become crucial to meet the increasing demands of 5G and beyond networks. These networks face complex challenges due to the proliferation of mobile devices, network overlay, and high mobility. In this context, it is essential to identify the most suitable network for a given user, taking into consideration the user's specific requirements. This article proposes a multi-criteria method for dynamic and personalized network selection in the context of different technologies, highlighting the difficulty involved in deciding which access technology the user should connect to. The proposed model showed better performance for high QoS (Quality of Service) profiles and low energy consumption, and it facilitated a more efficient distribution of network resources considering the network load criterion. A comparison with another current method in the literature highlighted the efficiency of the proposed model in achieving improvements for all user profiles considered.
