BPC at School Program and Care Policies for People with Disabilities

Abstract

The article addresses education, considering its social purposes, its specific epistemic field, and its possibilities of intervention on reality. The research focused on the BPC at School Program (Programa BPC na Escola), which aims to monitor and follow up the access and permanence in school of people with disabilities who receive the BPC benefit. The activities took place in the city of Suzano-SP, mainly involving the reading of 337 questionnaires. It is possible to conclude that, although little put into practice, the BPC at School Program remains an important strategy to ensure the right to education for children and adolescents with disabilities, precisely because of its power to induce intersectoral actions.
