Abstract

The article discusses the role of hospitals in the promotion of breastfeeding as a public health goal in the U.S. in 2014. Topics discussed include the 30th anniversary of the Office of the Surgeon General's Wokshop on Brestfeeding and Human Lactation, and the implementation of the World Health Organization (WHO)/United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding as indicated in the Baby-Friendly Hospital initiative.
