Abstract

Photodamaged skin and wrinkled skin are signs of aging that humans have, for centuries, sought to diminish. The innate desire to look as youthful as possible for as long as possible is not new. The ancient Egyptians used acidic substances from wine in an attempt to improve aging skin. Milk, wine, as well as various fruits and vegetables have been applied to the skin by various cultures over the centuries. © Springer-Verlag 2008.
