Abstract

This paper has two parts. The first part is a literature review which discusses vocabulary acquisition in ESL learners in context of 1) vocabulary acquisition strategies used by ESL learners 2) efficacy of Computer Aided Language Learning (CALL) in ESL vocabulary acquisition, 3) the use of hypertexts to aid vocabulary acquisition among ESL learners, 4) hypertext use strategies, and 5) hypertext design considerations. The second part of the paper is a proposed study on the use of a website evaluation rubric to evaluate the effectiveness of selected websites based on best practices of teaching-learning ESL. © 2009 Springer Berlin Heidelberg.
