Abstract

Film dubbing has been used for approximately nine decades. Its evolution has been analyzed thoroughly, yet not only movies are dubbed. Video games represent the most complex type of audiovisual product and dubbing was also incorporated to increase marketing options. Although dubbing is more recent in interactive material, some aspects needed to be adapted to the idiosyncrasy and evolution of games, and its development has been more rapid due to the demands of the industry. This article aims to review the origins and evolution of dubbing in video games, and the changes that it has experienced.
