Abstract

To detect underground objects with GPR different types of antenna can be used, and the choice of the antenna conditions the performance of the GPR system of imaging subsoil. This paper presents a 2D FDTD simulation to study operation of GPR using two different types of antenna: antenna array (as in the Reflexw software) and the dipole antenna (as in GprMax2D) under the same condition. The obtained results show that the array antenna is very useful for GPR use in terms of ability to detect the targets.
