Abstract

Two species of boopiid lice are recorded from a wild brushtailed rock wallaby (Petrogale penicillata penicillata (Gray, 1825)) from Kawau Island, New Zealand. They are Heterodoxus ampullatus Keler, 1971 and Boopia notafusca Le Souef, 1902. These are the first identified records of marsupial lice from New Zealand, and P. penicillata penicillata is a new host record for B. notafusca. This new host record is discussed and evaluated. © 1996 Taylor and Francis Group, LLC.
