Cancel the cancer culture!

Abstract

Almost one in two people in the United Kingdom will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Cancer is increasingly affecting individuals during their working years due to longer lifespans, higher retirement ages, and changes in disease epidemiology. With the number of people diagnosed with cancer expected to rise, it is vital for managers to understand how to support colleagues affected by cancer in returning to or remaining at work. Experiencing cancer has reshaped my perspective on work-life balance, self-care and resilience - areas often neglected in the dental profession.
