Abstract

To improve the effectiveness of conventional dose combination chemotherapy, high doses were explored in selected tumors. The major rationales for high dose chemotherapy were a) to increase tumor cell kill, and cure rate, b) to kill the resistant cell lines which have survived pervious standard chemotherapy, and c) to convert partial responses into complete response. The outcome of various studies in selected tomors are shortly reviewed and results are summarized.
