The climber is exposed to injuries associated with unique biomechanical forces. These injuries, closely correlated with the duration and frequency of climbing and with the climbing techniques, include lesions of the skin, of the tendons and pulleys, of the lumbrical muscles, and of the ligaments and joints. Ultrasound and MRI represent the imaging modalities of choice for a precise assessment of these injuries.
