Elevated levels of circulating lipids are the major cause of cardiovascular disease, but beneficial outcomes might be realized by targeting lipid carriers. Two papers in this issue of Cell Metabolism (So et al., 2012; Wang et al., 2012) demonstrate how modulation of one arm of the unfolded protein response can decrease plasma levels of VLDL particles and their associated lipids. © 2012 Elsevier Inc.
