Abstract

As the radio frequency signal radiates through an Earth-sky communication link, its qualitydegrades as it propagates through the link because of the absorption and scattering by theparticles in space. This degradation significantly affects the received information, particu‐larly with the recent advances in satellite technologies and services, which require a highinformation rate. Furthermore, the extent of degradation depends on the link, atmospheric, transmitted signal, and receiver antenna parameters.
