Abstract
One of the causes of the low productivity of maize in Indonesia is the presence of plant-disturbing organisms that can reduce the productivity of maize, one of the plant-disturbing organisms that continues to exist and can reduce the productivity of corn plants is weeds. The study aims to determine the effect of the concentration of atrazine herbicide in controlling weeds on the growth and production of maize. This research was carried out at the Horticultural Plant Seed Center, Sudiang, South Sulawesi. The study was carried out from June to September 2019, using a Randomized Block Design, one factor with 5 treatments, 3 replications as follows: control, atrazine herbicide (3 ml / liter, 4 ml / liter, 5 ml / liter, 6 ml / liter) . The parameters observed in weeds are weed population, and types of weeds, frequency, weed dominance, summed dominance ratio. The parameters of corn plants are plant height, number of leaves and shell weight. The results showed that administration of atrazine herbicide concentration of 3 ml / 1 liter effectively suppressed weed populations, the dominance of weeds and types of weeds in maize crop so that it affected the growth and production of corn plants.
