Abstract

The fishing port of Paita has been contaminated by heavy metals for several years due to the industry and the fishing sector. The general objective was to determine the efficacy of phytoremediation with macrophytes of water contaminated by lead in the fishing port of Paita - Piura. The methodology is applied, exploratory, quantitative, experimental and transversal due to the characteristics of the information used, the phytoremedial plant used was Eichhornia crassipes (Water hyacinth). Among the results obtained were: pH of 6.75 in the initial stage and 7.73 with the application of macrophytes at 30%; for the electrical conductivity parameter, it presented 16.27 uS/cm in the initial stage and 28.33 uS/cm after application of macrophytes at 30%; the dissolved oxygen parameter, which presented 2.69 (mg/l) in the initial stage, after the application of the macrophytes at 30% decreased to an amount of 2.45 (mg/l); Likewise, the chemical oxygen demand was measured, being in the initial stage a concentration of 34.20 (mgO2/l), after the application of the macrophyte plants it decreased to 33.26 (mgO2/l); the main parameter analyzed was Pb in mg/L, which in the initial stage presented a concentration of > 0.002 and in the final stage with the application of macrophyte plants it decreased to a concentration of < 0.00143. Thus concluding that for lead the efficiency of phytoremediation with Eichhornia crassipes (Water hyacinth) was relatively low.
