Abstract
Bridges Health Monitoring (BHM) is considered essential in such a context in the context of increasing traffic requirements and a variety of environmental conditions. In this paper, a summary of the technological implementations of BHM is provided, such as a description of the WSNs, a description of LiDAR, and damage monitoring using drones, which made damage detection more accurate and efficient. This study demonstrates that an efficient monitoring system can be more easily developed through a multidisciplinary effort between civil engineering, materials science, and computer science. The findings indicate that an all-inclusive BHM system can produce instant information for maintenance and repair decisions. Despite significant development, challenges like the costs of implementation, the requirement of standardization, and data processing from different resources are yet to be tackled. Further research suggestions encompass the development of machine learning algorithms to improve the analysis of data, the combination of monitoring technologies, and also more case studies will be necessary to understand how BHM technology can be applied practically. Therefore, this work presents a comprehensive account of the potential and challenges for the application of BHM and the potential regions for innovation in the future.
