Abstract

An analysis of shorting pin loaded compact triple-band antenna with triple-mode characteristics is carried out in this paper. The antenna structure is designed with a rectangular patch loaded with open edge slots to excite the fundamental TM10 mode at 2.51 GHz and two modified inverted F-shaped defected ground structures (DGS) for the TM20 and TM30 modes at 5.26 GHz and 8.18 GHz, respectively. A design formula for the fundamental resonant frequency of the basic structure is presented using multiple linear regression technique. The experimental results show good agreement with the simulated results.
