Abstract

Noise in large cities is getting worse with the increasing density of motor vehicles from year to year. One of the impacts of sound pollution on public health is increasing stress. The rapidly growing of Pekanbaru City along with the increasing population with an annual growth rate of 20.82%, lead to environmental degradation. The noise can be reduced by the presence of green open space. The aim of this paper was to identify noise level and reduction value in the green open space of Putri Kaca Mayang Pekanbaru city. In this study, the noise at the green open space was measured by using the method of measuring the ambient noise level ISO 8427: 2017. The calculated data showed that the degree of noise in Putri Kaca Mayang green open space at 0-meter distance from the source of noise is 74.1 dBA, at a distance of 10 meters was 66.1 dBA, at a distance of 20 meters was 65.8 dBA, and at a distance, 30 meters was 63.6 dBA. The results showed that the further the measurement distance from the source of noise, the noise level decreases by 10.5 dBA.
