Abstract

ABSTRAK Teknologi pengolahan limbah cair kelapa sawit saat ini masih banyak yang menggunakan teknologi konvensional berupa pengolahan biologis seperti kolam aerasi. Pengolahan ini membutuhkan lahan yang luas sehingga perlu dicari alternative teknologi pengolahan lainnya yang tidak membutuhkan lahan luas tapi mampu untuk menurunkan kadar COD dan BOD pada limbah cair industri kelapa sawit, seperti teknologi plasma. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat efektivitas teknologi plasma tipe dielectric barrier discharge dalam menurunkan BOD dan COD limbah cair kelapa sawit. Dalam pengujian ini limbah cair industri kelapa sawit diberi tegangan yang berbeda-beda sebesar 0 Kv, 15Kv, 20Kv, 25 Kv. Didapatkan kadar BOD dengan tegangan 25 kV sebesar 184 mg/l dengan tingkat efisiensi sebesar 97% dan COD sebesar 321 mg/l dengan tingkat efisiensi sebesar sebesar 97%. Kata kunci: BOD, COD, dielectrical barrier discharge, limbah cair kelapa sawit, teknologi plasma. ABSTRACT The technology for processing palm oil waste water today still uses conventional technology in the form of biological treatment such as aeration ponds. This processing requires large areas of land, so it is necessary to look for alternative processing technologies that do not require large areas of land but are capable of reducing COD and BOD levels in palm oil industrial wastewater, such as plasma technology. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of plasma dielectric barrier discharge technology in reducing BOD and COD of palm oil waste water. In this case, the liquid waste of the palm oil industry was given different voltages of 0 Kv, 15Kv, 20Kv, 25 Kv. Obtained BOD levels with a voltage of 25 kV of 184 mg/l with an efficiency level of 97% and COD of 321 mg/l with an efficiency level of 97%
