Abstract

Natural rubber has been used in engineering applications ly, this elastomer is finding increasing use in very demanding for over a century. More recent- and sophisticated areas, for exam- ple, in off-shore oil installations and in seismic bearings thquakes. It is the unique combination of properties for the protection of natural rubber of buildings from ear- which lead to its choice in these aplications. This paper discusses some of these properties that make natural rubber a desirable material for engineering products.
