Abstract
In an improved soil, soil-reinforcing bar interaction is affected by various phenomena, and essentially by soil dilatancy. It is possible to determine, besides the elementary friction coefficient a value of lateral friction, or an apparent friction coefficient in the case of reinforced earth, in which the effect of dilatancy operatesglobally. The influence of various parameters is shown : soil compacity, nature of the surface of the inclusion, value of the normal stress. Some practical rules for design are proposed.
