Abstract

The manufacturing of models and prototypes in the architecture and construction area has had, and still has, one very important craft component. The development of the systems of assisted design, with its consequent evolution towards the solid modelling systems and the current information modelling systems in building, have allowed to obtain electronic models, photorealistic images and virtual animations of construction with a very acceptable quality. But it still is not possible to say the same thing about the physical models, obtained from this electronic model of the building through machines of rapid models and prototypes manufacture. In the present work, the current condition of the art is approached as for the obtaining models of construction by means of printers in three dimensions (machines of rapid prototypes manufacture), analyzing the difficulties that have not been yet corrected, and a line of work is proposed as for machines, work procedures and electronic files manipulation that can help the final user so much (to take the maximum advantage of the current technology), since to the developer of solutions for the construction, because the guidelines of what is chased in this sector are established.
