The digitization of health care information and the rise of value-based care have paved the way to health care big data, which then encouraged the health care industry to use data analytics to make strategic business decisions. Faced with the challenges of health care data such as volume, velocity, variety, and veracity, healthcare industry needs to adopt a sophisticated digital technology capable of collecting, storing, and analysing these information to produce meaningful, actionable insights. Big data analytics (BDA) guarantees that data may be analysed and categorised into useful information that can be utilized by the healthcare authority in making decisions to support and improve the overall healthcare organization performance. However, implementing BDA to optimize healthcare performance is a fundamental challenge for researchers and practitioners alike. This study aims to explore and review the factors that influence healthcare organizations to adopt BDA. The paper uses a search strategy that covers four separate electronic databases. The researchers surveyed 120 titles, abstracts and keywords. 72 studies potentially relevant articles were identified, of which 21 studies met the quality criteria and contributed to the analysis, we identified five broad thematic competencies: organizational, technical, analytical, cognitive, and social. These thematic categories were used to develop a unified model of BDA competency. This model will be used to investigate the impact of BDA on healthcare performance and decision making. 9-point font.
