Analysis of heart rate variability in the occupational medical practice

Abstract

This review article explains the general conditions of the heart rate variability (HRV) analysis, the selection of the HRV parameters for different questions and the possibilities for utilization of HRV for the occupational physician, based on a selective literature search and considering current guidelines. The practical application of HRV is now well established, the HRV parameters are used as stress indicator and for the estimation of the regulatory mechanisms and functional reserves of the cardiovascular system.
