Abstract

This article presents a practical review of one of two recently developed methods for sampling downed coarse woody debris in forest stands. The method discussed here, point relascope sampling, is closely related to the familiar horizontal point sampling and this relationship is demonstrated throughout. Formulas, worked examples, and guidelines for the field implementation of the technique are presented.
